COSA 2015!

This summer's season is set to start on June 1st and we couldn't be more excited!  The investigation of the bath complex will continue, especially focusing on the structure's interior rooms which may have an irregular plan (rather than the typical symmetrical bathhouse layout).

Layout of Cosa's Bath Complex as revealed at the end of the 2014 season

In the interim time, the Fall 2014 Langford Conference as Florida State University examined "The Colonial Landscape in Republican Italy", focusing on other mid-Republican Roman and Latin colonies like Cosa (founded 273 BCE).  This conference, hosted by Cosa Site Directors Andrea U. De Giorgi and Russell T. Scott, featured several Cosa staff members and helped generate ideas about such colonies useful for guiding research at Cosa.

We also updated our website and had two successful Booster campaigns to raise money (about $700) for rental cars to transport the staff to and from site daily this summer.

Follow along with our excavations this summer by keeping up with the blog and if you happen to be in the area feel free to stop by for a tour!
